
NOTE: During Beta stage, each version comes with 180-day evaluation period. Hence, the more requests can be served from the cache the better the overall system performance is. They did notice a pretty decent boost in performance but your mileage will. Xotic did do a video review on the 170em in which they used a small mSATA drive as a cache drive for a primary SSD drive. Otherwise the data has to be fetched from volume/disk. The maximum speed of the primary drive bay will be faster as it is SATA III and the mSATA slot is SATA II. If requested data is contained in the cache, this request can be served by simply reading the cache, which is comparably faster.
Fancycache review driver#
One of the Fanc圜ache's core components is a storage class filter driver which resides in the storage stack, intercepting I/O requests for data on volume/disk. in order to get the bandwidth its looking for, it would need to be in 3.0 x16 slot, but that 16 GB/s (not Gb/s) should be enough to push a DDR3 -1600 RAM disk, which has a maximum throughput of 12.8 GB.
Fancycache review windows#
Fanc圜ache caches data on a logical block basis (offsets within a volume/disk) while windows cache manager caches on a virtual block basis (offsets within a file). so, and this is pure speculation, I was wondering if you could put a RAM disk on a PCI-e card. The 840 EVO is slated to replace the standard 840 Series, and it will be priced accordingly. It improves system performance by transparently storing data into memory such that future requests for that data can be served faster. In some cases PrimoCache was even slower at. In both cases i used a 32k partition and the main difference was the time it took to copy/cache initially to the SSD. Fanc圜ache for Volume is a handy and reliable application designed to cooperate with system memory to provide data caching for volumes. PrimoCache vs VeloSSD (SSD caching) i did once test the 0.92 version of PrimoCache against VeloSSD and unfortunately, the initial write caching where much slower compared to VeloSSD.
